Racing with the company's own yacht! A premiere for teak deck specialist Wolz Nautic from the Würzburg region. 12 May saw the Lürssen MC Cup take place in Kiel under force 5-6 winds. Wolz Nautic was among the top-flight field of starters for the first time with its own sailing yacht, and lost no time in making for highlights.
"On the one hand, the boat with its original teak deck has achieved exactly what I wanted it to. It is quite simply an eye-catcher! Everyone found it really great that we had the taken the trouble to present an original teak deck on our boat", enthused Megayacht manager Jörg Bubelach.
The ship was traditionally christened with sparkling wine in the course of the regatta and wished a hand-span of water under the keel at all times. There were slight inconsistencies in the communication of the ship’s name due to the wind and the speech comprehension among the English-speaking participants, so the regatta crews then agreed on the name "Holzwurst" (Wooden Sausage). Contradiction proved futile...
Only 4 regattas were sailed, on this day, seeing as the wind stretched the material to the very limit. From broken masts to capsizing – there was something of everything.
The decisive question in the end is of course: How did teak deck manufacturer Wolz Nautic do as newcomer? Not badly, because Wolz will be defending the Challenge Cup at the 10th edition of the Lürssen Minicupper Regatta. The sailing yacht from Franconia succeeded in winning at its very first attempt.
